The best way to process a book from a scanning/cost effective perspective is to cut off the binding, trim the page edge and then scan. The pages can then be scanned through the scanner's feeder. If you want to make your text searchable or editable then the images have to be OCRed (Optical Character Recognition). Prices for these two options is given in the table below (all prices are in Canadian dollars). Prices include scanning to Black and White images (contact us for current pricing on grayscale or colour scanning) at 600 dpi (dots per inch), all required image processing (ie. deskewing, despeckling, content centering, removal of paper edge effects, etc.) and if the images are OCRed then the content of each page is manually zoned to ensure the highest quality output.

We realize that sometimes a book is too valuable to destroy by removing the binding so we do offer manual scanning for your book. Because of the extra labour involved in scanning the book prices are higher.
